At the recent AMI conference 'Flame Retardants in Plastics 2011' held in Cologne (Germany), Minelco's Business Development Manager Stefan Viering (pictured) presented a paper.
The presentation entitled 'Latest update on fire retardant functionalities and rheological benefits of huntite and hydromgnesite in extruded plasics' highlighted the mechanism of the Minelco UltraCarb™ minerals huntite and hydromagnesite. The presentation also covered the rheological properties of HFFR compounds and the advantages of Minelco UltraCarb™ in this application, compounding and extrusion conditions and a roundup of the main benefits of Minelco UltraCarb™.
Minelco are continuously working with UltraCarb™ to provide the plastics industry with comprehensive information on this mineral HFFR in compounds. Work to date has highlighted that Minelco UltraCarb™ offers:
- up to 25% higher extrusion speed (with adapted die design PVC)
- lower expensive additive demand
- less energy consumption
- more fire retardancy potential
- monetary benefits
